Everest, North Pole, Greenland: Server down!
16:49 p.m. EST Apr 11, 2004
This weekend was not a good one for ExplorersWeb. Saturday morning our mail box and phones were jammed with calls from Everest, North Pole, Greenland and tons of other far off places. ExplorersWeb's server was down and nobody could update their websites with Contact 2.0. You too might have noticed if you tried to visit ExplorersWeb.com!

And right according to Murphy's law; it all went down just in time for the weekend when all technicians were off! Especially Wave at the North Pole was pretty desperate - he had his first encounter with a polar bear and live pics to shoot off from the event! Some expeditions like Adventure Consultants used the ExWeb backup voice dispatch system while we all worked frantically to solve the problem.

Well, it's back to business today, sites are going back up one after the other and we can all again get back to our seats to watch extreme expeditions battling nature and technology! Sorry for the inconvenience you all. And hey, to your left is the live pic of Wave's newfound friends!

Contact 2.0 was launched in February 2003. Derived from high-tech expeditions to Everest, and to the North and South Poles, today CONTACT 2.0 has been used by more than 40 high-end expeditions, with the number increasing each month.

The concept of CONTACT is simple: Tell your story straight from the adventure to the internet, using the most lightweight gear and no webmasters. Contact 2.0 technology and its test pilots has already delivered the first live expedition video from both earth's poles and spectacular videos from Everest high camps. An upgraded version, Contact 3.0 ((free for Contact 2.0 owners) is due next month.

The developing team consists of Everest climbers, Polar skiers and ocean sailors, who understand the true importance of lightweight and easy tech that works.
