Teddy has left the building! This morning at 1105 hrs East Coast Time, amidst international press, well-wishers, ferries, tugboats, and all that is New York Harbor, Teddy Rezvoy left for his Atlantic Ocean row.

He is recreating the historic row by two American/Norwegians who in 1896 rowed from New York to Brest, France; along the, “Gulf Stream Route.” In 2001 Teddy successfully rowed the Atlantic Ocean, but from the opposite direction.

His departure time coincided very well with the changing of the tide, and Mother Nature should help give him 2-3 knot push past the Statue of Liberty and out onto the open Ocean. Teddy is using the Contact 2.0 system and will be sending back live video and pictures from his journey.

ExplorersWeb was there this morning to capture some photos and a video clip of Teddy’s starting off.

ExplorersWeb image of Teddy pushing off from the dock - hopefully the next time he touches land will be on the European continent.
