"I feel happy and free!"
image story

At 65 years old, he is off for Cuba in a row boat. What else could you wish for when autumn arrives?

"Everything's going fine, I am already 4 miles from Barbados, have rowed out of island's leeward triangle and started to move pritty fast.

Sea is full of white-caps, but the boat perfectly answers the helm, so I am very content with the new rudder. And in general - I feel happy and free!" was Pavels first report.

And the latest:
"I am passing St Lucia from the South, at a distance of approx 5 miles , so I can take a good look at it - a seriously mountainous island... But I see I have played safe - I could be rowing much closer to it.

Though then I would not benefit by such a good wind - here now the boat is carried along like in a wind tunnel, there is no need to row at all. Will restore rowing only in the Caribbean Sea, I think.

I am completely worn out :) by local fishermen, who keep approaching with an offer of assistance - "D'you need a tow? Has your engine failed?" - "No, thank you! I have no engine at all"

At 65 years old, Pavel Rezvoy, a geologist from Ukraine, is the oldest ocean rower in the history of ocean rowing. When he, after 62 days, crossed the finish line in Barbados, he arrived as number two of the solo class in ORSARR 2004, only 2,5 days after the 23 years old winner.

But then grandpa refused to go home: -"There is nothing to do in Ukraine for senior citizens", he said. So Pavel Rezvoy headed to Cuba, May 14th, at 14:00GMT.

This is going to be a tough row, but he is absolutely looking forward to it, saying, that he still has a really big Dorada to fish! And this time he has ALL the fishing tackle ready for the adventure. He also has a new rudder.

"I have caught insuperable desire to set out on the ocean – until now, five sixths of the globe has been unknown to me. It's time. It's time to set sail (oars) … while I still can."
