Jean Luc to arrive Ushant tomorrow morning?
14:48 p.m. EST Mar 8, 2004
Jean Luc is almost there, at this point 29 days ahead of the current record:
"My arrival off Ushant looks more and more likely to be on Tuesday morning. However, the arrival in Les Sables d'Olonne planned for Thursday at 5 p.m. is definitely on."
Yet close is not close enough:
"My main worry at the moment is avoiding any possible accidents. Apart from that, life on board has changed somewhat. I don’t have any free time left, as alongside the usual jobs, I have a lot of work to do with the media!"
Onboard his Adrien, four time circumnavigator Jean Luc Van Den Heede is attempting to break the record for sailing around the world solo and non-stop the “wrong way” – from East to West, against prevailing winds. It his fourth try in five years. Jean Luc has successfully completed four single-handed round the world voyages. He has taken 2nd and 3rd place in the Vendée Globe as well as 2nd and 3rd in the BOC Challenge.
