Storms growing more dangerous for Maud
12:29 p.m. EDT Sep 2, 2003
80 days at sea are taking their toll on Maud Fontenoy. She still has problems sleeping every day, nightmares brought on by the recent storm: "I wake up in tears all the time", Maud says, hoping that it will get better within the next few days.
Right now she has but one fear; to have to re-live that ordeal again!
We are already in September and Maud is still 662 miles from her destination. As autumn progresses the storms grows more dangerous and also more frequent. The weather conditions are still the same and she drifts with the wind and the swell in a southbound, backward loop.
Maud works in silence now, dreaming of the day she will set foot back on land and all her efforts will be rewarded.
French rower Maud Fontenoy set out from St. Pierre et Miquelon, Canada on June 13 in an attempt to become the first woman to row across the Atlantic West to East.
